Wear-Resistant Sliding Bushing

XiaYi Wear-Resistant Sliding Bushing is a composite sliding component designed for reciprocating motion, rotating support and shock absorber applications where friction, wear and maintenance are major concerns. Unlike conventional metal bushings that depend heavily on external lubrication, XiaYi combines high-tin bronze, DU polymer and PTFE composite structures to provide different levels of load capacity, friction control and temperature resistance.

XiaYi Wear-Resistant Sliding Bushing is a composite sliding component designed for automotive suspension and engineering machinery applications where low friction, wear resistance and reduced maintenance are required. Available in high-tin bronze, DU polymer and PTFE composite options, it can be matched to different load, temperature and operating conditions. The product supports self-lubricating operation, up to 1.2 million wear cycles and temperatures up to 200°C, helping reduce friction noise, premature wear and maintenance frequency.

Material Options

High-Tin Bronze

High-tin bronze is designed for applications requiring higher load-bearing capacity and structural strength. It supports loads up to 150 MPa and operating temperatures from -40°C to 150°C, making it suitable for conventional passenger vehicles, heavy-duty components and machinery subjected to higher mechanical loads.

DU Polymer

DU polymer uses a bronze substrate with a polymer composite sliding layer. Its lower friction characteristics make it suitable for frequent reciprocating movement and applications where regular lubrication is inconvenient. The material supports temperatures up to 180°C and can reach up to 1.2 million wear cycles under specified test conditions.

PTFE Composite

PTFE composite construction is intended for applications where friction and temperature control are especially important. With a friction coefficient of approximately 0.05--0.08 and temperature resistance up to 200°C, it is suitable for high-speed sliding components, EV suspension systems and areas exposed to increased frictional heat.

Performance Comparison

Performance High-Tin Bronze DU Polymer PTFE Composite
Friction Coefficient 0.15--0.25 0.08--0.12 0.05--0.08
Wear Cycle Life Up to 800,000 cycles Up to 1.2M cycles Up to 1M cycles
Max. Temperature 150°C 180°C 200°C
Load Capacity Up to 150 MPa Up to 120 MPa Up to 100 MPa
Lubrication Recommended Self-lubricating Self-lubricating
Main Advantage High load capacity Low friction & long life Low friction & heat resistance

The actual performance depends on load, speed, shaft condition, temperature, lubrication conditions and installation. XiaYi can recommend the appropriate material according to the customer's operating parameters.

Friction Control

Lower Sliding Resistance

Friction is one of the main factors affecting bushing temperature, wear and operating noise. XiaYi uses DU polymer and PTFE composite sliding layers to reduce direct metal-to-metal contact. This helps maintain smoother movement during repeated suspension strokes and other reciprocating operations.

Reduced Operating Noise

Uneven friction can create squeaking, knocking or vibration during vehicle movement. The low-friction composite surface provides smoother contact between the bushing and mating shaft, helping reduce friction-related noise, particularly during frequent start-stop movement and low-speed suspension operation.

Dry Running Support

For applications where regular grease replenishment is difficult, self-lubricating DU and PTFE structures provide an alternative to conventional lubricated metal bushings. This is particularly useful for enclosed suspension assemblies, EV components and machinery installed in locations that are difficult to access during routine maintenance.

Temperature Adaptation

Different operating temperatures require different bushing materials. High-tin bronze is suitable for general mechanical loads, while DU polymer provides a wider temperature range for high-cycle operation. PTFE composite is selected when both low friction and elevated temperature resistance are required.

For automotive applications, this graded approach allows the same basic bushing design concept to be adapted to different positions within a vehicle. For construction machinery, material selection can also take into account continuous operating temperature, load fluctuations and outdoor working conditions.

Wear Protection

Composite Layer

The composite construction combines a supporting metal substrate with a functional sliding layer. The substrate provides mechanical support, while the surface layer is responsible for friction and wear characteristics. This separation of structural and sliding functions allows the Wear-Resistant Sliding Bushing to balance mechanical strength with low-friction operation.

Surface Stability

XiaYi controls the coating and bonding process to reduce the risk of premature layer separation. PTFE composite products use a controlled lining thickness of approximately 0.02--0.03 mm, while bonding strength can reach ≥8 MPa under specified production conditions.

Service Verification

Selected product grades undergo long-cycle wear verification, with DU polymer versions reaching up to 1.2 million cycles under defined laboratory conditions. These tests are used to evaluate material durability and help determine whether a selected bushing is suitable for the customer's expected operating cycle.

Working Condition Matching

Working Condition Recommended Material Main Reason
Standard passenger vehicles High-Tin Bronze Higher load capacity
Heavy mechanical loads High-Tin Bronze Up to 150 MPa load capacity
Frequent reciprocating motion DU Polymer Low friction and long wear life
EV suspension systems DU Polymer Self-lubricating operation
High-speed sliding PTFE Composite Lower friction
High-temperature areas PTFE Composite Up to 200°C
Difficult maintenance locations DU / PTFE Self-lubricating structure

Correct material selection is important because maximum load capacity and minimum friction do not necessarily occur in the same material. XiaYi can select the appropriate structure according to load, speed, temperature and expected service cycle rather than simply choosing the material with the highest individual specification.

Application Areas

Automotive Suspension

The Wear-Resistant Sliding Bushing is used in shock absorber and suspension support systems for passenger cars, SUVs, EVs and commercial vehicles. Its low-friction structure helps maintain smooth relative movement between suspension components and reduce noise during repeated road impacts.

Electric Vehicles

EVs typically combine higher vehicle mass with frequent start-stop operation, making friction and wear control important for suspension components. DU polymer and PTFE composite options can provide self-lubricating operation and stable sliding characteristics for selected EV suspension applications.

Construction Machinery

Excavators, loaders and other construction machinery experience higher loads, vibration and environmental contamination than ordinary passenger vehicles. High-tin bronze can be selected where load capacity is the priority, while composite options can be considered for positions where friction and maintenance requirements are more important.

Engineering Case

New Energy Light Truck

In 2025, a professional new energy commercial vehicle enterprise replaced traditional single bronze sliding bushings with XiaYi graded wear-resistant sliding bushings in its light truck shock absorber assembly. The original components experienced noticeable friction noise during frequent start-stop operation, considerable wear after 40,000 km and occasional performance attenuation during high-temperature summer conditions.

After implementing a graded material solution using DU polymer for conventional working positions and PTFE composite for high-temperature areas, the friction coefficient was reduced by more than 50%, and the abnormal noise during start-stop and uneven-road driving was eliminated. After 100,000 km of road testing, no obvious wear failure was reported. The self-lubricating structure also reduced after-sales maintenance frequency by approximately 85%.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose the material?

The main selection factors are load, sliding speed, operating temperature and maintenance conditions. High-tin bronze is more suitable for higher-load applications, DU polymer for frequent movement and maintenance-free operation, while PTFE composite is preferred where low friction and higher temperature resistance are required.

Does it need lubrication?

DU polymer and PTFE composite versions are designed for self-lubricating operation and can reduce or eliminate routine lubrication under suitable conditions. High-tin bronze versions may require lubrication depending on the specific application and operating environment.

Can the size be customized?

Yes. XiaYi supports customization of inner diameter, outer diameter, wall thickness, length and other structural dimensions according to customer drawings or samples. Material selection can also be adjusted according to load, speed, temperature and expected service life.
